Nagradu u Uzbekistanu primili su direktorica Turističke zajednice grada Slunja Jasmina Mrkonja i direktor Regionalne turističke zajednice Karlovačke županije Željko Fanjak.

Sudjelovanje na Generalnoj skupštini UNWTO-a i primanje priznanja za najbolje turističkoj selo na svijetu velika je stvar za Karlovačku županiju, a posebno za naš Slunj koji je savršeno odradio prijavu. U hrvatskom izaslanstvu su i predstavnici Ministarstva turizma i sporta, Hrvatske turističke zajednice i veleposlanslanstva, te mogu reći da smo svi izuzetno ponosni zbog ovog globalnog priznanja. Iza nas je izvrsna sezona s brojnim aktivnostima i manifestacijama koje su doprinijele tome. Upravo ruralni krajevi čine "ono nešto" što nas stavlja na turističku kartu svijeta. Dobivanjem ovog priznanja, bolju potvrdu za naš rad i bolju motivaciju za dalje nismo mogli dobiti“, poručio je iz Uzbekistana direktor Fanjak iz Samarkanda.
Gradonačelnica Slunja Mirjana Puškarić ističe kako je nagrada rezultat upornog rada i ulaganja.
„Dijelimo ovu nagradu na 4.224 dijela, na 4.224 stanovnika na području grada Slunja koji su u posljednja 3 desetljeća zajedno radili i ponovno gradili naš prekrasni grad koji je ratom bio devastiran. Svaki dan truda, rada, upornosti i želje da stvorimo grad kakav imamo danas, očituje se u ovom priznanju. Prepoznati smo kao malo turističko naselje koje kontinuirano radi na razvoju i ulaže u sve segmente društva, kako bi bili primjer izvrsnosti održivog i društveno odgovornog poslovanja. Izuzetno sam ponosna jer smo zajedničkim snagama dobili priznanje svjetske razine da smo na dobrom putu!“ istaknula je gradonačelnica Mirjana Puškarić.
Županica Karlovačke županije Martina Furdek Hajdin podsjeća da je iza nas još jedna sjajna sezona. Brojke su rekordne: imamo 50 tisuća više turista nego u istom razdoblju prošle godine, a do kraja godine porast noćenja i dolazaka bit će dvoznamenkast. Vijest iz Uzbekistana, kaže županica, potvrda je izvrsnog rada dodaje:

Slunj, sa svojim Rastokama i mlinicama, Koranom i Slunjčicom, s prekrasnom i očuvanom prirodnom i povijesnom baštinom - osvojio je prestižnu titulu najboljeg turističkog sela na svijetu u vrlo jakoj konkurenciji od 260 prijava iz 60 zemalja iz cijelog svijeta.
